Torrance Daily Breeze, NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED PROJECT Name of Project:Joint Outfall "D" Unit 7 and 8 Trunk Sewer Rehabilitation Project Location: The project comprises two segments. The first segment begins in Sepulveda Boulevard approximately 300 feet west of the intersection of Figueroa Street and Sepulveda Boulevard, then approximately 1,500 feet northwesterly in Sepulveda Boulevard and Caltrans right-of-way, then proceeds northerly in private right-of-way to the intersection of 232nd Street and Van Deene Avenue, then northerly in Van Deene Avenue to approximately 50 feet south of the intersection of 228th Street and Van Deene Avenue. The second segment begins approximately 700 feet north of the intersection of Meyler Street and 228th Street, then proceeds northerly in Meyler Street to 220th Street, then northerly in private right-of-way to Carson Street, then westerly in Carson Street to the intersection of Carson Street and Normandie Avenue, all within the Cities of Carson and Los Angeles, and in unincorporated Los Angeles County. Entity or Person Undertaking Project: County Sanitation District No. 2 of Los Angeles County (District No. 2) Project Description: The project consists of rehabilitation of approximately 9,900 feet of 54- and 60-inch diameter, clay-tile-lined sewers by lining with cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liners or sliplining with fiberglass reinforced polymer (FRP) liner pipe depending on the segment. The project also includes rehabilitation of 15 manholes and abandonment of two manholes. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT District No. 2 proposes to issue a Notice of Exemption for the project. The state legislature has declared that certain projects are exempt from CEQA. If a project meets one or more exemptions, a Notice of Exemption may be filed once the project is approved by the District No. 2 Board of Directors. The project recommended in the Facilities Plan is categorically exempt under 15301(c) of the CEQA guidelines because the project consist of repairs to existing sewerage facilities involving negligible expansion of system capacity.
